Automobiles in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were notified by a resident who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police report initial examinations show the liquid was likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for details.

An important official said the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
